Japan Stones: Tsugaru Petrified wood

Meaning: decisiveness, healing, blossoming of talent

It is a petrified tree that fell in the past and were exposed to strong underground pressure and hot water containing silicon dioxide. Silicified wood is the same component that make up quartz, jasper and agate. Good quality silicified wood retains its original form with annual ring, branches and even roots. The red colored parts are jasper or agate, with is oxidized iron. Shirakami Sanchi with its virgin beech forest was registered as UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993
