A Mt. Koya maki ( Japanese Umbrella Pine) Jindai and independent peak with a wide spreading foot, where Mitake Shrine is located.
Including the volcanic eruption of about 5200 years ago, Mt Ontake has experienced four magma eruptions in the span on 20.000 years. Because of this the favorable event a very valuable Jindai trees were born.
The trees that come Jindai an are still here have a lot of resin and are hard, so it said that Jindai Koya Pine is not easy to find.
Koya Pine is know as one of the five famous tree species of Kiso.
Considered a sacred tree of Mt Koya, it`s name come from  the fact that this species of tree grow abundantly at Mt Koya where the head or the head temple of the Mt. Koya Shinngon sect is Located
